Specific strength training falls somewhere in between climbing and weight training,
and is part of many experienced climbers' regimens. In order to succeed on the more
demanding routes, climbers will focus on very specific movements or muscular/mental
tasks that they will need to complete a specific route or climb well overall in a new
climbing environment. Training the body in this way leaves a kind of mental and
muscular "imprint" of the movement, enabling the climber to summon the movement at
will (hopefully) when they are in the heat of attempting a route that is at or beyond
their limit.
SolidRock Gym is the only facility in southern California to utilize the latest in
climbing-specific training technology, offering two dedicated "campus boards" for
building deadpoint strength and power, and the adjustable-angle "SYSTEM WALL" which
builds contact strength, lockoff power, and improves your awareness of body positioning
and balance.
